7 Steel Nordic supplies steel billets to Nova Hut

Czech steelmaker Nova Hut has started receiving steel billets from Norway-based 7 Steel Nordic, according to local media reports.

The first shipment arrived several weeks ago, with 7 Steel Nordic potentially supplying up to 10pct of Nova Hu’s total material requirements if the cooperation develops as expected.

The partnership could also offer logistics advantages, with material shipped from Norway through Polish ports and onward by rail. Nova Hut currently sources billets from several countries, including Germany, Kazakhstan and Brazil.

Nova Hut is an integrated steelworks in Ostrava, Czech Republic, producing flat and long steel products, including hot- and cold-rolled products, rebar and tubes. Following its acquisition from Liberty Steel, the plant returned to the Nova Hut name and is transitioning away from its former coal-based primary steelmaking operations. It currently relies on imported semi-finished steel for its rolling operations and is preparing a 1.5 mln ton per year electric arc furnace (EAF) as part of its planned low-carbon transformation.

7 Steel Nordic Manufacturing, formerly Celsa Armeringsstal, is a leading producer of long steel products in the Nordic region, based in Mo i Rana, Norway. The company is part of the 7 Steel Nordic group, acquired by Sev.en Global Investments in 2025, with combined capacity of around 2 mln tons across Nordic and UK operations.
