    Steel exports drop 14pct in Mar-Oct 2024 YoY

    Iran exported USD 3.643 bln worth of steel products in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-October 21), marking a 14pct decline from USD 4.255 bln in the same period last year, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA). Export volumes fell slightly by 0.5pct, totaling 16.519 mln tons, compared to 16.601 mln tons in the previous year.

    In the past Iranian calendar year 1402 (ended March 19), Iran’s steel production rose 5.8pct YoY to 29.334 mln tons. This included 18.452 mln tons of billet and bloom (up 9.2pct) and 10.882 mln tons of slabs (up 0.7pct). Sponge iron production also increased by 8.5pct during the same period.
