Silvan Rolls, part of Vergili Group, has started production at its new steel plant in Karabuk following trial operations, with the facility completing its first quality steel billet casting.
The company had announced plans for the plant in September 2025. The project includes a 50-ton electric arc furnace, ladle and three-strand caster, designed for annual steelmaking capacity of around 400,000 tons.
The plant, built with an investment of around USD 100 million in Karabuk Organized Industrial Zone, will process scrap into steel billets and is intended to produce quality steel products that are not currently manufactured in Turkey.
Construction was completed in around two years. Once operating at full capacity, the facility is expected to employ around 500 people.
Silvan Rolls is a major Turkish producer of rolling mill rolls and became part of Vergili Group in 2019. The company exports around 70pct of its roll production to international markets, including North America, the Middle East, South Asia and the Far East.
