According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s pig iron imports reached 142,843 tons in April 2023, showing an increase of 11pct compared to the previous month. On a YoY basis, pig iron imports also grew by 4pct.
India emerged as the largest supplier of pig iron to Turkey, supplying 73,907 tons, followed closely by Russia with 71,711 tons. China exported 1,025 tons during the same period.
From January to April 2023, Turkey’s total pig iron imports amounted to 465,344 tons, with Russia leading as the top supplier, providing 295,407 tons.
