Ternium, a leading steel manufacturer, has announced a significant investment of USD 3.2 billion to construct a state-of-the-art steel plant and cold rolling facility in Nuevo Leon.
This new venture will be established on Ternium’s existing site in Pesqueria, situated in the metropolitan area of Monterrey. By implementing a multi-furnace setup, Ternium aims to expand its steel production capacity and effectively meet the growing global demand for steel.
According to CEO Maximo Vedoya, this investment marks a historic milestone for Ternium, representing the largest capital outlay in the company’s history.
The new facility will incorporate its own carbon capture capacity and employ treated wastewater in the steel production process, emphasizing Ternium’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Construction of the plant is set to commence in December, with the steelworks projected to commence operations in the first half of 2026.
