Cenergy Holdings, a Belgian holding company focused on the growing global demand of energy transfer, renewables, and data transmission, has announced that its steel pipes segment, Corinth Pipeworks, has been awarded a contract to manufacture a 163-kilometer pipeline in West Macedonia, Greece. The pipeline will be the first high-pressure transmission gas pipeline in Greece to be certified to transport up to 100pct hydrogen, and one of the first in Europe.
The contract was awarded by DESFA, the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator, and covers the development of a natural gas pipeline covering the country’s northern region of West Macedonia. The pipeline will contain 163 kilometers of coated steel pipes, including 97 kilometers of LSAW 30-inch pipes and 66 kilometers of ERW 14-inch and 10-inch pipes. The entire quantity of hydrogen-certified pipes will be manufactured in Corinth Pipeworks’ plant in Thisvi, Greece.
Deliveries are planned to start in the second semester of 2022 and end in the first six months of 2023. The pipeline is part of the European Hydrogen Backbone, Europe’s hydrogen infrastructure needed to achieve its climate and energy objectives.
Corinth Pipeworks is a world leader in steel pipe manufacturing for the oil and gas sector and major producer of steel hollow sections for the construction sector.
