MMK plans to build facility for forged working rolls production

Mekhano-Remontny Kompleks (MRK, a leading equipment manufacturer that is part of MMK Group) plans to build a state-of-the-art, import-substituting production facility to manufacture forged working rolls for cold-rolling mills, forged backup rolls for cold- and hot-rolling mills, as well as large-sized forgings.

Investment in the project will exceed RUB 14 bln (USD 155 mln). The project will create over 700 jobs, more than half of which will be high-productivity positions. The new facility will have a capacity of around 24,000 tons of products per year.

The first phase of the project will be carried out in the second quarter of 2025, with the project scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026. The main customers of MRK’s new products will be large metals companies, including MMK, Severstal, NLMK, Evraz, Mechel, ChelPipe and Krasny Oktyabr.

The new forge and foundry will include a casting department for the production of ingots, a forging press for the production of forgings, a department for the heat treatment of forgings and finished forged rolls, and a machining department for the roughing, finishing and grinding of forged rolls.

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works is the main investor in the project. Survey and design work will be carried out by the I. P. Bardin Ferrous Metallurgy Research Institute.
