Bahrain Steel, a top producer and global supplier of high-grade iron ore pellets, announced the arrival of MV Ubuntu Unity, owned by Anglo American. This is a significant moment for Bahrain Steel, as it marks the largest vessel to dock at the company since its inception in 1984.
MV Ubuntu Unity is a cutting-edge Capesize+ LNG vessel, renowned for its exceptional fuel efficiency, having a significant 35pct reduction in CO2 emissions compared to standard maritime fuel vessels.
This shipment underscores Bahrain Steel’s dedication to decarbonization and its strategic collaboration with Anglo American. It also witnessed the introduction of an electronic bill of lading (eBL), signaling a shift towards a more efficient, secure, and sustainable alternative to traditional paper-based processes.
In line with Bahrain Steel’s sustainability goals, the arrival of the largest vessel with DR pellet feed in its history represents a significant stride towards sustainable iron ore sourcing. Bahrain Steel values its longstanding partnership with Anglo American, enabling the delivery of high-quality iron ore feed from Brazil to Bahrain, the company said.
