Makstil AD has selected Danieli technologies to overhaul the reheating furnace at its plate mill in Skopje, North Macedonia. This upgrade will involve a complete redesign of the reheating process, utilizing Danieli’s newly developed “Efesto” simulation tool and advanced furnace components.
The existing furnace, supplied by Danieli Centro Combustion and operational since 2008, has a productivity rate of 100 tons of custom-made plates per hour. The project aims to cut natural gas consumption by up to 10pct and reduce CO2 emissions.
Key improvements will include the installation of Danieli Centro Combustion’s proprietary MAB flameless and RAD radiant burners, which will also lower NOx emissions. The upgrade will also feature a high-efficiency heat recuperation system and new, high-insulating refractory lining.
The agreement encompasses plant startup, personnel training, and support to ensure optimal technological results and a rapid return on investment. The overhaul is expected to enhance product quality and simplify maintenance. The upgrade is scheduled for completion by mid-2025.
