Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has implemented a machine learning-based digital system to optimize oxygen supply to its blast furnaces.
The system, trained on historical data, provides accurate oxygen level recommendations for the hot blast air, enhancing the efficiency of cast iron production. Previously, operators relied on discrete data, which could be unreliable in dynamic conditions.
The new AI system improves data accuracy, corrects sensor errors, and aids decision-making. The system is operational across blast furnaces Nos. 6, 9, and 10, and is integrated into control panels and operator workstations.
