Tenaris has begun operations at its seamless pipe mill in Campana, Argentina, with the successful first casting of its new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), the company announced.
The EAF, featuring Consteel technology, aims to cut CO2 emissions, boost energy efficiency, and enhance production capabilities, marking a significant advance towards cleaner steel production.
The project, a collaboration between Tenaris, Tenova, and Techint Engineering & Construction, involved months of dedicated effort. The new Consteel EAF, which has a production capacity of 950,000 tons of liquid steel for seamless pipes, replaces one of the two existing EAF units at the Siderca steel shop.
Developed by Tenova, Consteel technology enables a continuous feed of raw materials into the EAF, improving energy efficiency and productivity while effectively controlling emissions.
