Tokyo Steel, a leading EAF-based steel producer in Japan, has reduced steel prices for October after maintaining stable prices for the past seven months.
HRC (1.7-22 mm) prices were lowered by JPY 12,000 (USD 85) to JPY 92,000 (USD 649) per ton, pickled and oiled coils by JPY 15,000 (USD 106) to JPY 100,000 (USD 705) per ton, and coated coils by JPY 15,000 (USD 106) to JPY 124,000 (USD 875) per ton.
In the long products, the company reduced rebar prices by JPY 10,000 (USD 71) to JPY 88,000 (USD 621) per ton, while H-shaped beams decreased by JPY 12,000 (USD 85) to JPY 115,000 (USD 811) per ton.
Tokyo Steel cited sluggish domestic demand, particularly in construction, as well as increased import competition driven by lower international prices and exchange rate fluctuations. They will continue to monitor the market and adjust prices to stabilize conditions.
