Indian state-owned iron ore miner NMDC reported a 1.33pct YoY increase in production, reaching 3.04 mln tons in September, up from 3 mln tons in the same month last year, according to a BSE filing. Sales also rose by 13.8pct YoY to 3.54 mln tons in September.
However, for the April-September period, NMDC’s cumulative iron ore output fell to 17.47 mln tons, down from 19.56 mln tons in the same period last fiscal year. Sales during this timeframe also declined to 19.8 mln tons, compared to 20.55 mln tons in the previous year.
NMDC is India’s largest iron ore producer, with a total output of about 35 mln tons from three fully mechanized mines located in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
