Scrap import prices surge amid positive market sentiment

Turkey’s scrap import prices surged this week, driven by improved market sentiment and a positive outlook following the rise in Chinese steel prices. Scrap prices were assessed at USD 380-385 per ton CFR, up from USD 360-365 per ton CFR the previous week.

In the finished steel segment, domestic demand for Turkish long steel remained strong. The increase in scrap prices, coupled with higher sales, led exporters to raise their offers this week.

Turkish rebar export prices climbed to USD 610-620 per ton FOB, a USD 20 increase compared to last week. Wire rod export prices also saw an uptick, now ranging between USD 620-630 per ton FOB, up from USD 605-615 per ton the previous week.
