Celsa Armeringsstal completes major modernization of rolling mill

Pomini Long Rolling Mills has completed a modernization project at Celsa Armeringsstal in Mo I Rana, Norway. The existing rolling mill, operational since the 1980s, was originally designed and supplied by Pomini SpA, the predecessor of Pomini Long Rolling Mills.

The project involved supplying four Red Ring Series 5 finishing stands. These new stands reuse existing rolls and change devices while the new rest bars fit the current rolling guides. The design of the Red Ring Series 5 minimizes changeover times and extends the lifespan of wear components, enhancing operational efficiency and maintenance.

Additional supplied equipment includes a retrofitted stand lubrication system for quick connections during changeovers, encoder systems for gap adjustments, and workshop equipment for stand preparation and roll changes, all compatible with new and existing stands.

The project also provided documentation in line with the EU Machinery Directive, engineering services for additional equipment, advisory services for installation and commissioning, and training.

Celsa Nordic encompasses Celsa Armeringsstal, Celsa Steel Service in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark, as well as Celsa Recycling, making it a leading steel producer in the Nordic region. Celsa Armeringsstal AS features a melting and rolling mill located in Mo i Rana.
