Chinese steel producer Shougang has selected Danieli’s Zero Bucket technology to become the first in China to produce automotive-exposed grades using EAF. Shougang is the first BF-BOF steelmaker in China to achieve ultra-low emissions.
The new Danieli Zero Bucket, featuring horizontal preheating and continuous charging, will have a 160-ton tapped steel capacity. Its technology minimizes CO2 emissions, offering flexibility in raw material charging, low energy consumption, and high reliability with reduced noise and pollutants.
The Eco-Pro design aims to minimize CO2 emissions, while unmanned/less-manned technologies like Q-Robot and Q-Ats will enhance operation, safety, and intelligent steelmaking. The new EAF will be installed at Shougang’s Qian’an Steelworks in Hebei Province, with construction set to begin in October 2025 and completion targeted for December 2026.
