Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Steel, a subsidiary of Zamil Industrial, plans to establish a new heavy metal structures factory in Egypt, according to Zamil Steel Egypt General Manager Khaled Saad. The facility, to be located in Sadat City, will feature three production lines with an annual capacity of 36,000 tons and will be completed in three phases over three years. Initially focused on local demand, the factory aims to export over half of its output in the future.
The project, fully self-financed by Zamil, will have its final investment cost confirmed early next year. Saad highlighted Egypt’s high demand for specialized heavy steel structures in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors, noting that many of these structures are currently imported.
Zamil Steel, with factories in Sixth of October and Sadat City, has produced 1.2 mln tons of steel structures over 25 years in Egypt and exports to 63 markets worldwide. It is on target to produce 72,000 tons in 2024, with 40pct allocated for export. By 2025, the company plans to enter five new markets, including Benin, Morocco, and Hungary, and expand its European presence by leveraging trade agreements and cost advantages.
Zamil Steel has pre-engineered buildings factories in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, UAE and Vietnam.
