Australia has launched an antidumping investigation into imports of hot-rolled steel (coils/sheets) from China, according to a notice from the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission.
The investigation, requested by Australian steel producer BlueScope Steel Limited, will cover the period from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024.
The application claims that the steel products were sold in Australia at prices below their normal value and received countervailable subsidies. It also alleges that these practices have caused significant harm to the Australian industry, including loss of sales, reduced production volumes, market share decline, price depression, and damage to profits, asset values, return on investment, and productivity.
The products under investigation include hot-rolled coil steel, including sheet form and checker plate, whether or not alloyed, and excluding those that are clad, plated, or coated (other than oil-coated). The investigation covers several specific Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers, including 7208.10.00, 7208.25.00, 7208.26.00, 7208.27.00, 7208.36.00, 7208.37.00, 7208.38.00, 7208.39.00, 7208.40.00, 7208.53.00, 7208.54.00, 7208.90.00, 7211.14.00, 7211.19.00, 7225.30.00, 7225.40.00, and 7226.91.00.
