Al-Babtain Power and Telecommunication Co. has announced the signing of a SAR 777 mln (USD 207 mln) contract with Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. to supply steel towers for a 500kV HVDC overhead transmission line (OHTL), according to a stock exchange filing.
The supply of steel towers is set to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
Founded in 1955, Al-Babtain is a leading player in outdoor lighting, transmission and distribution, telecommunications, and renewable energy. Al-Babtain operates a high-voltage transmission and communication towers plant, a steel structure plant, a tower testing station, and four galvanizing plants in Saudi Arabia, as well as similar facilities in Egypt to serve the Middle Eastern communication sector. The company’s production capacity for towers is 170,000 tons annually in Saudi Arabia and 50,000 tons annually in Egypt.
