Aramco has signed a shareholders’ agreement with Linde and SLB to develop one of the world’s largest Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) hubs. Under the agreement, Aramco will hold a 60pct stake, with Linde and SLB each owning 20pct.
Located in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, the first phase of the hub, supported by the Ministry of Energy, aims to capture and store up to nine mln tons of CO2 annually by the end of 2027. The CO2 will be captured from three Aramco gas plants and other industrial sources, then transported via a pipeline and stored in a saline aquifer. Future phases will further expand capacity.
