Tenaris completes pipe supply for Equinor’s offshore gas pipeline project

Tenaris has completed the production of steel pipes for Equinor’s Raia offshore gas pipeline project at its welded mill in Pindamonhangaba, Brazil.

The Raia project involves the construction of a 200-kilometer subsea gas pipeline that will connect a next-generation FPSO in the Campos Basin to the gas network at the Cabiunas terminal in Macae, with operations expected to begin in 2028.

The USD 9 bln investment project, which has recoverable reserves exceeding one bln barrels of oil equivalent, is designed to supply up to 16 mln cubic meters of natural gas per day, meeting 15pct of Brazil’s natural gas demand.

For this project, Tenaris manufactured a total of 83,000 tons of pipes and coatings at its mill. The pipes for the deepest sections of the pipeline feature advanced collapse-resistant designs capable of withstanding water depths of up to 2,900 meters. Additionally, the coating service includes internal coatings to enhance gas flow, external anti-corrosion protection, and concrete layers for buoyancy control and mechanical protection.
