Turkey imported around 1.1 mln tons of pig iron in the first ten months of 2024, reflecting a 6.6pct decline compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Russia remained Turkey’s largest pig iron supplier during this period, providing around 693,000 tons. Kazakhstan ranked second with approximately 157,000 tons, followed by Ukraine with 72,400 tons.
In October 2024, Turkey’s pig iron imports reached about 98,000 tons. Although this marked a significant 26pct YoY drop, it represented a 35pct increase compared to September.
