Sidenor acquires industrial waste management firm

Sidenor has acquired Eplus, a Catalan company based in Artes, Barcelona, specializing in industrial waste management and recovery. The move aligns with Sidenor’s strategy to foster sustainable growth and strengthen its leadership in the circular economy by enhancing material reuse for sustainability.

Eplus operates a 2,000 m2 facility that processes ferrous and non-ferrous waste, paper, cardboard, and plastics, converting them into reusable resources for the steel and metallurgical industries.

This acquisition builds on Sidenor’s prior strategic investments in waste management, including Aguilar Metal Recycling-AMR in 2022 and Miguel Martin in 2024. The company has also expanded into renewable energy, acquiring eight photovoltaic parks in Catalonia in 2023.

Sidenor is a special steel producer with over one mln tons capacity per annum, serving sectors such as automotive, machinery, energy, and petrochemicals. It operates production centers in the Basque Country, Cantabria, and Catalonia, with business offices in Germany, France, Italy, and the U.K.
