BMS Wire advances sustainability with new solar power facility

BMS Birlesik (BMS Wire), a leading Turkish producer of galvanized steel wire, has announced that its solar power project has been approved by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources-TEDAS 14th Regional Directorate, and is now connected to the national grid.

In June, the company revealed a USD 5.9 mln investment to construct the solar power plant, aimed at significantly reducing electricity costs at its Kocaeli facility.

Feasibility studies indicate that the plant, with an installed capacity of 6,240 kWp, is expected to generate approximately 10.8 mln kWh of electricity annually. This will enable BMS to meet about 80pct of its electricity requirements through clean, renewable energy.

Based in Kocaeli, BMS Wire operates with an annual production capacity of 72,000 tons, specialized in manufacturing galvanized, zinc-aluminum coated, stranded, and black annealed wire products.
