Tata Steel’s output grew 6 pct in Q3 FY25 YoY

India’s Tata Steel reported a 6pct increase in crude steel production, reaching 5.68 mln tons in Q3 FY25, up from 5.35 mln tons in the same quarter last year.

For the first nine months of FY25, the company’s steel production rose 5pct YoY to 16.2 mln tons.

The company attributed the growth to the commissioning of its five-mln-ton-per-annum blast furnaces at Kalinganagar in September.

Deliveries in India rose to 5.29 mln tons, an 8.4pct increase YoY, driven by steady domestic sales and a strategic export presence.

Tata Steel Netherlands reported liquid steel production of 1.76 mln tons, with deliveries at 1.53 mln tons, including 0.12 mln tons to the UK operations. For the first nine months of FY25, deliveries increased by 16pct YoY, thanks to improved production.

Tata Steel UK’s output was zero for the quarter due to the closure of its blast furnaces in the second quarter of FY25. Deliveries fell 12.5pct YoY to 0.56 mln tons. However, the company has reconfigured its supply chain to maintain customer service through downstream processing of purchased substrates.

Tata Steel Group, a leading global steel company, has an annual crude steel capacity of 35 mln tons.
