JSW Steel and JFE Steel launch pilot project for cloud-based BF technology

JSW Steel Limited and JFE Steel Corporation have initiated a pilot demonstration of cloud-based Cyber-Physical System (CPS) technologies for blast furnace operations at JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works.

This digital project aims to optimize steel manufacturing efficiency through data science technologies in a cloud environment, enhancing operational predictability and reducing CO2 emissions. JFE Steel has successfully implemented similar CPS technologies across its seven blast furnaces, achieving efficient and stable operations.

Since 2009, JSW and JFE have strengthened their strategic collaboration, involving capital participation and technical solutions such as automotive and electrical steels. JFE continues to promote digital transformation (DX) to enhance productivity and operational stability, extending solutions like BF-CPS to global partners to support sustainability goals.

JFE Steel Corporation, formed in 2003 through the merger of NKK Corporation and Kawasaki Steel Corporation, operates multiple steelworks globally. JSW Steel has expanded to become India’s leading integrated steel company, with current capacity at 29.7 mln tons per annum in India and the USA, aiming for further growth to reach 43.5 mln tons per annum domestically.
