In June, Turkey imported approximately 97,000 tons of pig iron, marking a sharp 66pct increase YoY but a 27pct decrease from the previous month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Russia remained the top supplier, contributing around 43,000 tons, while Ukraine supplied about 21,000 tons.
For the first half of 2024, Turkey’s pig iron imports totaled 752,000 tons, up 6pct YoY. Russia was the leading supplier with 540,600 tons, reflecting an 11pct increase compared to the previous year.
