    Steel exports decline in Jan-Jul 2024

    Egypt’s iron and steel exports fell by 19pct YoY in January to July 2024, totaling USD 1.17 bln, down from USD 1.43 bln during the same period last year.

    According to a report from the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory, and Metallurgy Industries, Egyptian suppliers successfully entered markets in 72 countries with their steel products during this timeframe.

    Turkey emerged as the largest market for Egyptian steel, with exports reaching USD 147 mln, a 15pct decline from the previous year. Other major markets for Egyptian steel during January to July 2024 included the USA (USD 131.8 mln), Spain (USD 118.6 mln), Italy (USD 114.5 mln), and Romania (USD 66.3 mln).
