Scrap import prices climb amid firm domestic steel demand

Turkey’s scrap import prices surged this week as Turkish steel mills continued to secure more cargoes to replenish inventories, driven by improved steel demand. Scrap prices rose to USD 385-390 per ton CFR, up from USD 380-385 per ton CFR the previous week.

In the finished steel segment, domestic demand for Turkish long steel remained robust. However, the rise in scrap costs pushed exporters to raise their offer prices, though overseas sales slowed due to more competitive offers from other countries.

Turkish rebar export prices increased to USD 620-630 per ton FOB, marking a USD 10 rise from last week. Wire rod export prices also saw an uptick, now at USD 635-645 per ton FOB, compared to USD 620-630 per ton the previous week.
