CSC to raise steel prices in November

Taiwan’s China Steel Corp (CSC) will raise domestic steel prices for November, citing improved market sentiment driven by China’s recent policy measures.

Prices for commercial-grade HR plates and coils will increase by TWD 900 (USD 28) per ton, while HR steel in rerolling grades will rise by TWD 1,200 (USD 37) per ton. CR and EG steel prices will go up by TWD 700 (USD 22) per ton, and galvanized steel by TWD 700-900 (USD 22-28) per ton.

The price hike is mainly attributed to stronger market confidence from China’s policies, rising raw material costs, and price increases by global peers. Iron ore prices have returned to USD 100-110 per ton, and coking coal exceeded USD 200 per ton, driving up production costs. Additionally, international steel producers like ArcelorMittal and Baowu have also raised prices, reinforcing CSC’s decision.

CSC is the largest integrated steel producer in Taiwan with an annual crude steel output of about ten mln tons.
