Turkey imported about 879,000 tons of pig iron in the first eight months of 2024, a 1.7pct decrease compared to the same period last year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Russia remained Turkey’s largest supplier, providing around 580,000 tons, which is a 10pct YoY decline. Kazakhstan was the second-largest supplier with approximately 101,000 tons, followed by Ukraine with 72,400 tons.
In August 2024, Turkey’s pig iron imports totaled 33,000 tons, a decrease of 25pct YoY and 72pct from the previous month.
