Turkey imported approximately 1.23 mln tons of pig iron in the first eleven months of 2024, marking a decline of over 3pct compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
In Jan-Nov 2024, Russia was Turkey’s largest pig iron supplier, accounting for about 813,000 tons. Kazakhstan followed with around 186,000 tons, while Ukraine supplied 102,400 tons.
In November 2024, Turkey’s pig iron imports surged to approximately 187,350 tons, reflecting a sharp increase of nearly 49pct YoY and over 90pct compared to the previous month.
