Liberty Steel UK’s Hartlepool pipes division has commenced work on pipeline production for the Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power) project at Teesworks, following its contract win last year on the BP-led initiative.
In 2023, Liberty Steel secured a major contract to supply pipelines for the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) and NZT Power, key infrastructure projects aimed at significantly reducing the UK’s carbon emissions.
As part of the contract, Liberty Steel will manufacture 105 km of offshore pipeline infrastructure to transport CO2 to the Endurance carbon capture storage facility in the North Sea, located 1,000 meters below the seabed. Production of the carbon steel line-pipe is expected to continue until Q3 2025.
This contract is one of eight engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) packages awarded by NEP/NZT Power, with a total combined value of approximately GBP 4 bln (USD 5.16 bln).
