Turkey’s scrap import prices remain under pressure due to weak steel sales. This week, scrap import prices were assessed at USD 325-335 per ton CFR, down from USD 340-345 per ton CFR last week.
Turkish steel mills are pushing for further price reductions, while scrap sellers point to higher collection costs during the winter season. Some market insiders believe that the potential for further scrap price declines is now limited.
Meanwhile, Turkish long steel export offers have also dropped this week due to subdued demand in both domestic and export markets. Rebar export offers fell to USD 555-565 per ton FOB, a decrease of USD 10 per ton from the previous week. Wire rod offers similarly declined by USD 10 week-on-week to USD 570-580 per ton FOB.
