Turkey imported approximately 3.59 mln tons of slab in the first 11 months of 2024, marking a 40.4pct increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Russia was the leading supplier, accounting for about 1.5 mln tons of Turkey’s slab imports during this period. Malaysia followed with 320,000 tons, and Indonesia with 231,000 tons.
In November 2024, Turkey’s slab imports reached around 532,000 tons, doubling YoY and increasing by 60pct from the previous month.
