JFE Steel Corporation announced that its JGreeX green steel will be used in surface mounters produced by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., known for manufacturing motorcycles and other products.
Certain exterior parts of the surface mounters, which attach components to circuit boards, will be made with JGreeX, marking the first application of JFE Steel’s green steel in cold-rolled sheets for industrial machinery.
Yamaha Motor is committed to reducing CO2 emissions through its Group Environmental Plan 2050, aiming for carbon neutrality throughout product lifecycles. By adopting JGreeX, Yamaha acknowledges the significant reduction in CO2 emissions from JFE Steel’s production process. JFE Steel employs a mass-balance approach to attribute emission reductions to specific JGreeX products, in line with Japan Iron and Steel Federation guidelines, ensuring these products are recognized for their low CO2 emission intensity.
