Turkey’s Izmir Demir Celik reported a consolidated net loss of TRY 529.4 mln (USD 11.1 mln) in January-June 2026, narrowing from TRY 949.3 mln a year earlier, despite weaker revenue and a sharp deterioration in operating profitability.
Consolidated revenue declined 6pct YoY to TRY 33.95 bln (USD 708.9 mln) from TRY 35.96 bln, while EBITDA swung to a loss of TRY 781.7 mln (USD 16.3 mln) from a positive TRY 1.66 bln. Operating loss widened to TRY 2.16 bln (USD 45.2 mln) from a profit of TRY 267.4 mln.
The narrower net loss was supported by a higher net monetary position gain and lower financing expenses, which partly offset the deterioration in operating results.
Steel production remained broadly stable. Billet output declined 1pct YoY to 1.09 mln tons, while rebar production increased 4pct to 519,037 tons. The company’s profile production fell 4pct to 146,229 tons, taking total finished steel production up 1pct to 857,375 tons.
Finished steel sales increased 2pct YoY to 863,832 tons, while billet sales rose 18pct to 276,599 tons. Exports increased sharply by 52pct to 435,872 tons, with export revenue rising 31pct to USD 254.3 mln.
