Turkey imported 1.1 mln tons of billets between January and April 2025, reflecting a 9pct YoY increase, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Malaysia emerged as the leading supplier during this period, shipping nearly 365,000 tons to Turkey. Russia followed with 207,000 tons, while China supplied approximately 102,400 tons.
In April 2025 alone, billet imports reached around 268,500 tons, up more than 37pct YoY. However, this marked a slight decline of about 3pct compared to March 2025.
