Metalloinvest’s Lebedinsky GOK has completed major repairs at two hot briquetted iron (HBI) production units, HBI-1 and HBI-2, five days ahead of schedule.
The 17-day HBI-1 overhaul included shaft furnace repairs, replacement of the ladle belt and cooling tower, and modernization of the furnace loading and unloading system. Plant specialists also reinforced the vibratory cooling conveyor drive and fully replaced the reformer burners for the first time, boosting reliability and extending service life.
Repairs at HBI-2, completed in 18 days, involved replacing loading pipes, conveyor belts, briquette press components, and updating motors in the seal gas compressor and dust removal system. Cooling conveyors were upgraded with new chains, rollers, and pallets, while smoke exhausters and air ducts were cleaned.
Metalloinvest plans to overhaul HBI-3 in October, completing major repairs across all three HBI complexes by the end of the month.
