Bangladesh-based Abul Khair Steel Ltd. has contracted Danieli to modernize its rebar rolling mill in Chittagong, with the aim of expanding its product range and enhancing flexibility to serve customers as a single-point supplier.
The project scope includes the design and installation of new production lines, integration of automation and process control systems, and revamping of the existing rolling mill and finishing facilities. The upgraded mill will be capable of producing a wide range of low-alloy and special steel wire rod products, with diameters from 4.5 mm to 25 mm and a maximum steady rolling speed of 110 m/s.
Execution will be carried out in phases to minimize shutdown time and ensure smooth integration with existing operations. The modernized line is scheduled to start operations in the second half of 2026.
Abul Khair said the project builds on its long-standing collaboration with Danieli, which has previously modernized the company’s rolling mill and supplied its meltshop, including two DC electric arc furnaces and a billet caster.
