Swedish steel producer Alleima has strengthened its presence in China with the inauguration of a new production mill in Zhenjiang, a USD 27 mln investment that marks 40 years of the company’s operations in the country. The facility will double Alleima’s production capacity, expand its product portfolio, add new jobs, and shorten lead times for customers across China and Asia.
The new 12,500 m2 cold-finishing mill will allow Alleima to manufacture high-performance tubular products locally, including heat-exchanger tubes, high-temperature and composite tubing, and hydrogen refuelling tubes, which were previously imported. The investment supports fast-growing sectors such as chemical and petrochemical, hydrogen, pulp and paper, and medical. The new Zhenjiang facility will also be solar-powered, aligning with the site’s Green Factory certification from Jiangsu Province.
Alleima, a global supplier of advanced stainless steel products with roots dating back to 1862, was one of the first Swedish industrial companies to establish operations in China.
