ArcelorMittal Sestao has awarded Danieli a turnkey contract to supply a new fume-treatment plant (FTP) and vacuum degasser (VD) at its Vizcaya plant in Spain, as part of the “Sestao 1.6” program aimed at achieving zero-carbon emissions, boosting capacity, and expanding its product portfolio.
The new FTP, serving EAF#1, will enable AM Sestao to fully utilize its two existing EAFs, raising productivity to 1.6 mln tons per year. The system will feature a refractory-free quenching tower, modular filters, and ID fans with variable-frequency drives, ensuring dust emissions below 3 mg/Nm3.
The VD station, equipped with mechanical dry vacuum pumps, will enhance clean steel production with precise chemical control and low nitrogen and hydrogen content, allowing the plant to widen its steel-grade portfolio. Advanced automation, including Q-AFS Automatic Foaming Slag Control and Q-Degas real-time process control, will further improve efficiency and safety.
Installation is underway, with commissioning scheduled for August 2026.
