Bahrain’s ASRY (Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard) has signed a partnership agreement with Italy’s Fincantieri to explore new collaboration opportunities in the shipbuilding sector.
Under the MoU, ASRY and Fincantieri will jointly assess opportunities to design and build surface military vessels of up to 80 meters for the Bahrain Navy and Coast Guard, as well as offshore vessels of similar size. The partnership also covers potential export projects in the Gulf region.
In addition, the agreement includes cooperation on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for military, commercial, and offshore vessels, along with knowledge-sharing in naval design and production process optimization.
The agreement marks a significant step for Fincantieri as it seeks to expand its presence in Bahrain and strengthen its broader Middle East strategy, including potential cooperation with MAESTRAL, its UAE-based joint venture with EDGE Group.
