Cemtas to upgrade SBQ mill to boost product quality

Turkish special steel producer Cemtas Celik Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. has ordered a Kocks Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB) 370++/4 in the 5.0 design as part of a modernization of its SBQ bar rolling mill.

The RSB will be installed as a finishing block, enabling the production of straight bars in sizes ranging from 15 mm to 100 mm with tight dimensional tolerances and improved surface quality. The scope of supply includes Kocks’ remote control system for automated stand and guide adjustments, as well as the Bamicon Octopus software to support roll shop setup.

The upgrade is expected to enhance product quality, operational reliability, and production flexibility, strengthening Cemtas’ ability to supply premium SBQ steels to automotive, machinery, and engineering markets. Commissioning is scheduled for 2026.

Founded in 1970, Cemtas produces a wide range of specialty steels, including bearing, free-cutting, lead, spring, and tool steels. The company operates a melt shop with an annual capacity of 193,204 tons and a rolling mill capable of producing 207,360 tons per year.
