Egyptian Customs Authority has extended the export duty on scrap and waste of stainless steel alloys classified under tariff heading 7204.21, according to an official decision.
Under the measure, an export duty of EGP 9,000 (USD 189) per ton will remain in effect for a further one year, starting from the expiry of the previous decision. The move is intended to regulate exports of stainless steel scrap and ensure adequate supply for the domestic market.
The duty will apply to shipments exported abroad, while consignments destined for free zones within Egypt will be exempt, subject to compliance with applicable rules and procedures.
