UAE’s EMSTEEL has supplied steel sheet piles for the redevelopment of Pendleton House in Salford, UK, a listed landmark being transformed into 88 affordable homes, in partnership with Sheet Piling (UK) Limited.
The project highlights EMSTEEL’s role in supporting complex urban regeneration schemes through international partnerships and reliable steel solutions. Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd was appointed by main contractor Quinn Developments to design, supply and install around 85 linear metres of steel sheet piles to form a permanent retaining wall along the southern site boundary.
Given restricted access and the need to preserve the listed facade, installation was carried out using a MOVAX excavator piling rig mounted on a compact Kobelco SK350 excavator, allowing work within the narrow plot.
EMSTEEL’s EZ18-700 sheet piles were delivered as single piles, welded into pairs on site and installed using a side-grip vibratory hammer, with additional precautions taken due to the proximity of a gas main.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, EMSTEEL has a production capacity of 3.5 mln tons of steel and 4.6 mln tons of cement annually. The group exports to over 70 markets, accounting for 30pct of its sales. The company offers a diverse range of steel products, including wire rod, rebar, heavy sections, and sheet piles.
