UAE’s leading steel producer, EMSTEEL (formerly Emirates Steel Arkan), has signed an agreement with e& UAE, the telecommunications arm of a global technology group, for a pioneering collaboration in the manufacturing sector to design and deploy an advanced 5G network. EMSTEEL will be the first in the UAE to leverage 5G slicing technology.
Under the agreement, e& UAE will offer customizable 5G slicing, allowing EMSTEEL to efficiently allocate network resources for specific applications and optimize manufacturing processes. 5G slicing enables virtualized networks on the same physical infrastructure, delivering ultra-low latency and high bandwidth for AI-driven machinery and predictive maintenance.
This integration will help EMSTEEL enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and monitor energy use and emissions, aligning with its sustainability goals.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, EMSTEEL has a production capacity of 3.5 mln tons of steel and 4.6 mln tons of cement annually. The group exports to over 70 markets, accounting for 30pct of its sales. The company offers a diverse range of steel products, including wire rod, rebar, heavy sections, and sheet piles.
