Greta Energy Limited has awarded Metso a contract to supply a traveling grate pelletizing plant for its greenfield steel project in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. The compact facility will be built around a 3-meter-wide indurating machine, with Metso delivering the engineering, plant design, proprietary equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
A traveling grate pelletizing plant produces high-quality iron ore pellets by moving material through sequential drying, preheating, firing, and cooling zones on a continuous grate. This configuration enables efficient heat treatment, lower energy consumption, and reduced emissions.
Greta Energy, part of the global Greta Group, is developing an integrated, low-carbon steel complex in Chandrapur. The project incorporates coal-gasification and carbon-capture technologies to support the production of high-grade pellets and advance sustainable steelmaking.
