Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group has ordered two continuous slab casters from Primetals Technologies, each with an annual capacity of 2.5 mln tons. The package includes Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems to enhance process control and digitalization. Installation at Jinxi Steel’s Tangshan plant is scheduled for completion by late 2026.
The investment supports Jinxi’s strategy to expand its production of high-quality electrical steels, especially non-oriented grades used in new energy vehicles (NEVs). The company cited Primetals’ strong track record and its own long-standing experience with a Primetals beam-blank caster operating since 2006.
The new casters will incorporate advanced technologies such as LevCon automated mold-level control, Mold Expert breakout prevention, DynaWidth mold-width adjustment, and DynaGap 3D roll-gap control with Smart Segments for improved internal strand quality and reduced centerline segregation.
Founded in 1986, Hebei Jinxi Group includes more than 40 subsidiaries and produces a wide range of flat and long steel products including HRC, CRC, plate, H-beams, tubes, pipes, rebar, and wire rod.
