Jiangsu Yonggang Iron and Steel Group has fully commissioned its new Danieli eight-strand billet and bloom casters in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, China. These casters produce high-quality steels, including high-carbon, tyre cord, bearing, and spring steels.
The casters feature 10-m and 12-m nominal radiuses with a 1370-mm strand distance, enabling the production of sections ranging from 160×160 to 240×240 mm. High product quality is maintained through external EMS stirrers, radioactive level-control systems, hydraulic oscillators, and advanced secondary cooling and containment systems.
The twin-module withdrawal and straightening system, controlled by the Danieli LPC dynamic solidification model, ensures superior quality and can adjust to varying casting conditions. Each caster strand has five twin-modules for 10 reduction points, offering precise control over the soft reduction process. Operating with Danieli Automation L1 and L2 process control systems, the two casters have a combined annual productivity exceeding two mln tons. All core equipment was assembled at Danieli China’s Changshu workshops.
